FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What materials do you use in constructing your custom closets?

We use high quality 3/4 inch melamine, an engineered wood product that is ideally suited for the closet industry.

Considerably less expensive than "real wood" that is typically used in traditional cabinetry, melamine is strong, straight, and holds up exceedingly well to everyday use.

It is scratch resistant, maintenance free and easily cleans up with a simple damp wiping.

Are the shelves adjustable?

For the most part, yes! The only ones we need to fix in place are the top, bottom and usually a middle one.

This gives each section the necessary strength and structure to hold your stored items.

Can modifications be made to my closets as my needs change?

Almost always, the answer is yes. Our closet system is modular in nature allowing most changes to easily be accomplished.

There are some limitations, but for the most part we can change the configuration of each section by adding or subtracting shelving, poles and even drawers.

Is there a top shelf?

There is always a “wall to wall” shelf across the back wall of our closet system at the top. Your walk-in closet will also feature what we call “wrap shelves” which connect each wall’s top shelf,

creating a seamless storage surface above your clothing. We find that a typical ceiling height will yield about 10” or so of shoe box, boot box, basket, hat, and miscellaneous storage.

Will I be able to reach the top tier of my double hang?

Yes, typically the top pole is positioned about 83” above the floor.

Allowing for the height of the hanger, you will have no problem grasping the arm of the hanger when removing, or placing a garment on or off the pole.

How deep are the shelves?

The tried and true depth for almost any folded garment or pair of shoes, is 14”.

Of course, when outfitting a linen closet or pantry, the parameters will change. We always consider what's being stored when

designing the space and we will adjust our system deeper or shallower as the need arises. When appropriate, we offer

an elegant 23” deep hanging arrangement that tucks your hanging garments away from the walking paths in a closet.

How deep are the drawers and can I supply my own handles or knobs?

When possible, we offer as a standard, a 16” deep drawer. It's a little roomier than the industry standard at no additional charge.

In special situations, because our drawers are custom built, we make a variety of different depths, widths, and heights.

We offer a limited selection of high quality knobs and handles (Hardware) that usually fit the bill for just about any décor,

but we don't mind installing your hardware if that's your desire.

All we ask is that you either get them to us to pre-manufacture your project, or that they be on site the day of your install.

Do you manufacture your closet systems in anything other than white?

Yes! We offer the latest wood grain selections from all of the premium melamine suppliers.

Ask us for samples of the colors, most of which we stock in our spacious warehouse.

Even special orders are readily obtainable and can be in our manufacturing facility in just days.

The additional cost for a wood grain is small compared to the added richness the perfect color and texture an upgraded melamine brings.

What about accessories?

We make a variety of wall mounted racks for belt, ties, scarves, hats and robes.

Where appropriate, slide out tie and belt racks can be mounted inside the hanging units for discreet storage.

Our “valet rod”, an extendable pole for temporary hanging that slides back when not in use, is mandatory for the modern household.

There is a pandemic though!

All Custom Closets is highly aware of the risks that Covid poses towards both our clients, and our community at large.

We take every precaution to ensure the safety and health of not only ourselves, but those we encounter.

What time can I expect the truck?

We have a sophisticated scheduling system for our truck routing, as we often have several stops a day in each route.

Our first stop is normally at 9 AM, with second stops being around, or after 1 PM, and third stop around 3 PM or later.

Our installers are instructed to call prior to arrival, which means that you don’t have to wait the entire day at your home.
